Fucus vesiculosus, a brown algal seaweed classified under the algae phylum, is found on submerged rocks on both coasts of North America. It is gathered from the rocks and dried rapidly in the sun, where it becomes brittle and is easily reduced to a coarse powder.
Fucus Vesiculosus Powder was the original source of iodine, discovered by Courtois in 1812. In 1862, seaweed was found to be an effective weight reducer because of its high iodine content and stimulating effect on the thyroid.
Fucus Vesiculosus Powder has moisturizing, exfoliating, and soothing properties. It is used externally to treat cellulitis, rheumatism, sprains, bruises, and psoriasis. It can also be used in cellular repair products and those formulated to treat cellulitis.
