The scientific name of the genus, Helianthos, comes from two Greek nouns--helios for “sun” and anthus for “flower”. Sunflower (Helianthus Annuus) seeds number about 650 to an ounce and are used for their oil in cooking.

When ripe, the seeds are black and produce a scentless, pale yellow oil. Massaged into the skin with witch hazel and a little honey, it leaves the skin soft and smooth.

Sunflower seeds are an excellent, nutritious food for the body. Sunflower seed extract is especially useful for oily skin when used externally.

Helianthus Annuus Seed Extract is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a characteristic odor. It is used in skin cleansers, creams, toners, and purifiers, as well as in bath care products.

Helianthus Annuus Seed Extract can also be used in hair care products formulated to treat dry or sun-damaged hair.
