Mango (Mangifera Indica) trees have long been appreciated as bearers of luscious fruits. Native to India, Burma, and Malaya, mangoes were some of the first fruits cultivated, supposedly as long as 4000 years ago.
The natives of India use the leaves and leaf stalks of Mangifera Indica to harden their gums. The wood, together with sandalwood, is used by the Hindus for burning their dead, and an infusion of the bark is employed for various skin diseases.
Mangifera Indica bark is very astringent, and this property suggests its appropriate therapeutic application. Mango fruit is a good source of potassium, vitamin C, carotenes, and flavonoids. Mangoes also provide a rich assortment of antioxidants.
Mangifera Indica Fruit Extract is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic odor. It is used in skin cleansers, creams, masques, gels, and skin treatment products. It can also be used in shampoos, conditioners, and bath care products.See also
