DEA-Oleth-3 Phosphate

DEA-Oleth-3 Phosphate is a powerful oil-in-water emulsifier, an Oleth-3 phosphate ester in acid form, used in household and industrial cleaners. The acid form allows formulation flexibility; it can form stable microemulsions and has excellent alkali stability and cationic compatibility.

DEA-Oleth-3 Phosphate is tolerant to high electrolyte levels, provides good detergency, and helps couple nonionic surfactants in-built cleaners. Its antistatic properties, high-temperature stability, and effective emulsification of chlorinated solvents make it the ingredient of choice for many formulations.

In addition, DEA-Oleth-3 Phosphate has anti-corrosive properties on ferrous surfaces and extreme pressure lubricity in metalworking applications. It is used in vehicle washes, dry cleaning detergents, fat liquoring, and leather dying. Industrial applications include textile detergent and antistat, conveyor and chain lubricants, extreme Pressure (EP) additives for metalworking fluids, and de-dusting agents on caustic powders.

DEA-Oleth-3 Phosphate is provided in the free acid form. As such, it is dispersible in water and exhibits some of its overall functionality. Generally, however, in most systems, using the product in a neutralized form is desirable. Neutralization can be accomplished with a wide range of alkalis. The choice of the neutralization agent and the level to which the acid is neutralized can significantly impact overall product performance. By using the acid form, the formulator is afforded considerable flexibility. The neutralization will usually be accomplished in situ simply by combining the various ingredients in a formulation.
