Fomblins are non-greasy, transparent, liquid polymers. They are fluorinated, which means the atoms of hydrogen are replaced with fluorine. They are hydrophobic and lipophobic, protect skin against external damaging influences that act as a protective shield against environmental impacts, giving the product a "velvet effect."
Perfluoropolymethylisopropyl ether (Fomblin HC) showed excellent results in treating irritation and contact dermatitis for workers dealing with aggressive chemicals like paint solvents, surfactants, and lubricants, and even metal powders.
Several barrier creams containing perfluoropolyethers were tested for safety and comedogenic properties. The study outcome confirmed that fomblins are non-comedogenic and generally safe for skincare fromulations.
