Poloxamer 188 is a block copolymer of ethylene glycol and propylene glycol. It is a white solid in the form of small beads or prills, soluble in water. It is known under the trade name Pluracare® F 68.
Due to its low skin and eye irritation, Poloxamer 188 found particular application in the cosmetic industry. It is used as an emulsifier in various areas, from cosmetics to oral care products. Its HLB is greater than 24.
