PPG-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate

PPG-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate is a non-oily polymer and a nearly dry feel emollient, making this ester a suitable selection for mineral oil replacement. It improves spreading and reduces the greasy feel of mineral oils, etc. It is a liquid at 25°C with a refractive index of 1.4395 and a specific gravity of 0.88.

PPG-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate is a highly mobile emollient. It forms cohesive, uniform films that lack the occulsiveness of heavy oils, like mineral oils, enabling it to provide a more pleasing skin feel. It is highly recommended as a total or partial replacement for mineral oil or similarly unctuous materials.

By doing so, PPG-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate counteracts the greasiness of the heavy oils and improves their skin feel as an emollient. It also enhances freeze-thaw stability, is easily emulsified, and is an ideal solvent for sunscreens. The freeze-thaw dynamics of emulsions are improved with this ester due to its branched-chain nature. It is typically used at 2-20%.
