Cyclotetrasiloxane is a volatile cyclic dimethyl siloxane (Cyclomethicone), predominantly D4 (Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane - contains eight methyl groups). It is a clear, water-white liquid without odor.
Cyclotetrasiloxane is soluble in Isopropyl Myristate, Mineral Oil, and Ethanol. It is insoluble in propylene glycol and water.
Cyclotetrasiloxane provides a smooth, silky, lubricious feel upon application and then evaporates from skin and hair without the cooling sensation of water or ethanol. It effectively delivers actives in AP/DO sprays and roll-ons where fast drying is required.
