Cyclohexasiloxane (Dodecamethylcyclohexasiloxane) is a polydimethylcyclosiloxane with six silicon atoms in a cycle. It is a clear, tasteless, essentially odorless, non-greasy, and non-stinging liquid.

Cyclohexasiloxane is used as a base or a volatile carrier in many personal care products. In addition, it can be used as a detackification agent. It is compatible with a wide range of cosmetic ingredients and has excellent spreading, easy rubout, lubrication properties, and unique volatility characteristics.

Thanks to its excellent solubility in alcohols and many solvents used in cosmetics, Cyclohexasiloxane is a universal ingredient. In comparison with other volatile carriers, it does not cool the skin during evaporation. Due to its higher molecular mass, it evaporates slower than Cyclopentasiloxane.

Cyclohexasiloxane has low surface tension, imparts a soft-silky feel to the skin, and leaves no oily residue or build-up. It is used in antiperspirants, deodorants, hair sprays, cleansing creams, skin creams, lotions and stick products, bath oils, suntan and shaving products, makeup, and nail polishes.
