Cedarwood oil is a woodsy, balsamic, and earthy blend with just a touch of sweetness. The tree (Juniperus Virginiana) can attain a majestic stature with a trunk diameter of over 1.5m (5ft). Essential oil by steam distillation from timber waste, sawdust, shavings, etc.

Juniperus Virginiana oil's properties are abortifacient, antiseborrheic, antispasmodic, astringent, balsamic, diuretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, insecticide, sedative (nervous), stimulant (circulatory).

Historically, Virginian Cedarwood has been used to treat a variety of ailments including rheumatism, arthritis, skin rashes, venereal warts, gonorrhea, pyelitis, and kidney infections, as well as an insect and vermin repellant. Virginian cedarwood has a mild sweet-balsamic scent that blends well with grapefruit, orange, sandalwood, rose, juniper, cypress, vetiver, patchouli, and benzoin.

Externally Juniperus Virginiana oil is relatively non-toxic; it can cause acute local irritation and possible sensitization in some. Use in dilution only with care, in moderation. Avoid during pregnancy. It is generally safer to use than Atlas Cedarwood.
