Litsea Cubeba (May Chang) is a small evergreen tropical tree, with fragrant lemony scented leaves and flowers, and small pepper-shaped fruit. The roots and stems have been used for centuries by the Chinese to treat indigestion, lower back pains, chills, headaches, and travel sickness.

Modern research has shown that it may be useful in treating cardiac arrhythmia. Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil comes from China and is steamed and distilled from the fruit. May Chang Oil is obtained from the small pepper-like fruits of the tree, this is a refreshing, uplifting, and stimulating essential oil with antiseptic, carminative, and healing properties.

Incorporated in bath or shower applications,  Litsea Cubeba oil may aid tissue toning and reduction of cellulite and help to cleanse the system. May Chang oil is an anchoring scent and blends well with sandalwood, patchouly, and White Sage. Its properties are antiseptic, deodorant, digestive, disinfectant, insecticide, sedative, and stomachic.

Historically, Litsea Cubeba is often used to help dispel flatulence and indigestion, and to treat skin disorders such as acne, dermatitis, greasy skin, and spots. It is also considered to be useful in cases of nervous stress, high blood pressure, and arrhythmia. It blends well with sandalwood, patchouly, sage, orange blossom palmarosa, olibanum, tolu balsam, elemi, lemon, and other citrus oils.

Do not use personal care products with this ingredient if pregnant and dilute before use.
