Aluminum Chlorohydrate is one of the most widely used and best-known antiperspirant active ingredients. Because of its versatility, it can be supplied as a powder, as a liquid, or complexed with propylene glycol, zirconium, and various buffers.

Basic aluminum chloride complex is available in a variety of basicities, i.e. different aluminum-to-chloride ratios. Aluminum chlorohydrate-containing ingredients are recommended for use in antiperspirants where a higher level of wetness protection is desired, particularly in aerosol formulations.

All of these ingredients are available in a variety of particle sizes; however, super ultrafine (95% through 10 microns) is preferred, particularly in sticks, suspension roll-ons, and anhydrous soft solids. In addition, aluminum chlorohydrate solutions and powders are unique in that they can be used in both hydro-alcoholic and aqueous-based products, including, but not limited to clear gels, roll-ons, emulsion creams, lotions, and various pump systems.
