Hyaluronic acid, present in abundance in the extracellular matrix of the dermis, is responsible for promoting support and volume to the skin and is involved in cell migration, proliferation, and also in wound healing. Skin aging tends to be an imbalance between the production and degradation of hyaluronic acid - a decrease in synthesis and an increase in the activity of the enzyme hyaluronidase, responsible for the degradation of hyaluronic acid. Hyanify™ (HyaMar) is based on an exopolysaccharide obtained from the biological fermentation of marine y-proteobacteria, extracted from the surface of the algae Laminaria macroalgae, which is found in the Aber Wrac’h region of the Atlantic Sea, on the British West Coast. The microorganisms inhabiting this area have developed special structures and mechanisms to ensure their survival, promoting the synthesis of important substances, such as hyaluronic acid (HA).
