Sodium C12-15 Pareth-15 Sulfonate is a sulfonate-capped linear alkyl ethoxylate, an anti-irritating anionic surfactant. Its structure is unique among commercially available surfactants, with a hydrophobic portion comprising 15 moles of ethoxylation terminated with a sulfonate anionic group. This results in physical and performance properties that differ from those of the common sulfonate- and sulfate-type surfactants.
Sodium C12-15 Pareth-15 Sulfonate is water soluble, and its 35 % solids aqueous solution is a clear yellow liquid. It exhibits excellent mildness and counter-irritancy behavior and has good foaming ability, shallow color, and odor.
Sodium C12-15 Pareth-15 Sulfonate exhibits remarkable mildness and counter-irritancy behavior, reducing skin irritation scores of surfactant combinations far beyond the results expected from simple dilution. In addition, it shows good emulsifying characteristics and excellent hydrolytic stability in all pH ranges.
This makes Sodium C12-15 Pareth-15 Sulfonate an excellent choice for systems in which low irritation potential is crucial, such as facial scrubs, acne treatments, baby products, and hypoallergenic products. It is totally biodegradable ingredient.
