An RCS (Reactive Carbonyl Species) scavenger helps prevent visible signs of premature aging from pollution and photo-aging. Tripeptide-1 (also known as GHK peptide, a fragment of collagen type I ) is a remarkable molecular innovation that actively helps prevent visible signs of premature aging. It is also a signaling peptide that stimulates the synthesis of extracellular matrix components, primarily collagen, hyaluronic acid, and other GAGs (glycosaminoglycans), decreasing fine lines and wrinkles.

Tripeptide-1 protects and stabilizes collagen fibers (preserve native structure by binding to it), fighting against aging-derived wrinkles. This multifunctional peptide also shows a potent anti-collagenase effect, preventing enzymatic degradation of collagen fibers. Protecting the main structural protein in the skin prevents the degradation responsible for aging-derived wrinkles.

In tests in conjunction with the University of Milan, Tripeptide-1 is the first cosmetic active ingredient that can detoxify the skin from the recently discovered noxious reactive carbonyl species of free radicals, thus helping prevent dangerous Free Radical damage from RCS and the loss of Collagen elasticity. RCS Free Radicals can be found in aged or photo-aged skin or polluted air. Tripeptide-1 is efficiently captured, cells are detoxified, and they remain healthy.

Scientific Lab tests also showed 97% DNA Protection. Tripeptide-1 helps protect the skin’s DNA from UVA-induced sun damage, therefore helping to protect the skin from the visible signs of photo-aging. This anti-aging peptide is used as a core molecule for developing more specialized ingredients such as Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 for hair, brow, and eyelash care applications and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 for high-end skincare products.
