Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex is a chlorophyll derivative in which Mg2+ cations in the middle of the nitrogen ring (reactive core) are replaced with copper ions, Cu2+. This process is also observed in nature when green-blue microalgae lose their photosynthesizing ability in copper-rich medium conditions.

Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex is a well-studied oil-soluble food additive colorant with a "natural" green color labeled E141. It is also used in pharmaceuticals as a deodorizing and antimicrobial agent and is permitted for oral administration and topical application.

Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex is a naturally derived pigment frequently used in personal care products. It can be labeled using the Color Index classification CI 75810.

Thanks to its antiseptic properties, Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex is effective against skin infections and acne and is used in wound healing, deodorizing, and anti-acne applications. It reduces wound odor and inflammation while boosting regeneration processes.

In addition, the Chlorophyllin-Copper Complex is a protective ingredient that reduces the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS, a type of free radicals), acts as an active antioxidant, and activates DNA repair mechanisms, enhancing the expression of p53 and PARP proteins.
