The Black walnut (Juglans Nigra) is a large tree with dark glossy leaves. Water distilled from the green leaves was thought to heal running ulcers and sores. The afflicted person would bathe the problem areas with a cloth wetted by the extract to effect the cure.

The bark and leaves are astringent and detergent. Black walnut leaf extract has been used as a douche for leucorrhea, as an infusion to check mammary secretions, and as a vermifuge.

Juglans Nigra Leaf Extract has been used to check for diarrhea and as a mouthwash for sore mouths and tonsils. Because of their resemblance to the brain, they were thought to be good for headaches and epilepsy.

Juglans Nigra Leaf Extract is a medium to dark amber liquid with a characteristic odor. The leaf extract has been used as phytoestrogen body cream and, together with Ginseng, can be used for making vaginal lubricants.

The astringent and detergent qualities of Juglans Nigra Leaf Extract make it useful in skin care lotions, creams, and astringents, as well as, in products for the bath.
