Basil (Ocimum Basilicum) is a fragrant, green herb regarded as sacred in ancient India and used widely in cooking today. Ocimum Basilicum was also used to restore the sense of smell to those with chronic nasal problems and as a first-aid treatment to draw the poison from venomous insect stings and snake bites.

Basil fresh leaves were made into tea, which was used to clear the head, stimulate the appetite, and relieve stomach cramps. The dried leaves were made into snuff to relieve headaches and cold symptoms.

Ocimum Basilicum Leaf Extract is a light to medium amber liquid with a characteristic odor. It was also considered beneficial as a cough treatment and a refreshing tonic for sluggish skin.

Ocimum Basilicum Leaf Extract is used in skin creams, lotions, toners, skin treatment products, and first-aid ointments. Its stimulating qualities can also be used in bath and hair care products. The recommended level is 5 - 10%.
