The grapefruit (Citrus Paradisi) tree is often over 10m high with glossy leaves and large yellow fruits, believed to have derived from the shaddock. Essential peel oil is obtained by cold pressing from the fresh peel.

Citrus Paradisi peel oil shares the nutritional qualities of other citrus species, being high in Vitamin C and valuable protection against infectious illness. Native to Asia and West Indies: cultivated in California, Florida, Brazil, and Israel. The oil is produced mainly in California.

Citrus Paradisi peel oil’s properties are antiseptic, antitoxic, diuretic, stimulant ( lymphatic, digestive), and tonic.

Historically, grapefruit essential oil has been used to treat acne, congested and oily skin, cellulitis, and obesity. In addition, it lifts depression and aids in cases of nervous exhaustion and stress.

Citrus Paradisi peel oil is used as a fragrance ingredient in soaps, detergents, cosmetics, and perfumes. Extensively used in deserts, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages. It can be used to treat coughs, colds, and anorexia. It blends with lavender, geranium, ylang-ylang, lemon, bergamot, orange blossom, rosemary, cypress, geranium, cardamon, and other spice oils.
