Diazolidinyl urea is a highly effective, broad-spectrum antibacterial preservative with excellent activity against Pseudomonas species. It is nonirritating to eyes, skin, and mucous membranes at use levels.
Diazolidinyl urea is highly water soluble and retains its activity in the presence of proteins, nonionic surfactants, and most other common ingredients used in personal care formulations. It may be added directly to aqueous systems without heating.
In a hot process, Diazolidinyl urea should be introduced during the cooling stage, surely below 60°C and recommended below 40°C. Being hygroscopic, it should be stored in tightly sealed containers when not in use.
