Dimethyl MEA (DMEA, Dimethylethanolamine, or Deanol) is a natural ingredient derived from fish. It combats the signs of skin aging, particularly the loss of firmness. It also promotes the firmness, vigorousness, and elasticity of muscle fibers.

With aging, levels of acetylcholine, a chemical mediator related to muscular tone, diminish. Acetylcholine improves muscular tone and reaffirms the skin. DMAE increases the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that sends signals from nerves to muscles and nerve to nerve. Therefore, stimulating the production of acetylcholine increases muscular tone.

Dimethyl MEA produces a lifting effect (increases muscle tone) and reaffirms the skin while helping skin tensing capacity. It can improve the skin's firmness, fight flaccidity, and improve the elasticity of eye contour skin.

Incorporated in specialized applications, Dimethyl MEA can raise the appearance of eyebrows, provide firmness to the neck area, and avoid saggy skin. It attenuates and smoothes wrinkles resulting from saggy skin.

Along with other alkylamines, Dimethyl MEA has restrictions (annex III/62) on maximal concentrations of 2.5% for both leave-on and rinse-off products.
