Sorbitan Isostearate is an ester of sorbitan with Isostearic acid, a completely saturated branched liquid fatty acid. It is an excellent water-in-oil emulsifier with an HLB value of 4.7. It is also an efficient co-emulsifier when combined with polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid esters (polysorbates) in oil-in-water systems.

Sorbitan Isostearate is a mixture of mono and diesters, not prone to oxidation or associated changes in color or odor. This liquid is beneficial for pourable products thanks to its low melting point.

An excellent water-in-oil emulsifier, Sorbitan Isostearate produces stable emulsions and creams with concentrations of as little as 2%. It is similar to Sorbitan Oleate but may offer superior performance and stability. It is an ideal water-in-oil emulsifier for aerosol systems.
