Triclocarban is an antimicrobial agent with wide activity against Gram-positive bacteria, particularly suitable for application in deodorant soaps and other products such as sticks, roll-ons, creams, and lotions when an antibacterial activity is required.

An increasing number of bar and liquid soaps, both for household and institutional use, contain bacteriostatic agents. These products prevent the proliferation of resident and transient skin flora, particularly dangerous staphylococci. Such bacteria, besides acting on perspiration to give unpleasant odors, are a common cause of skin diseases.
