Polyaminopropyl Biguanide has been a widely utilized antimicrobial agent for many years, providing reliable preservation of a diverse range of cosmetic and personal care applications. Although surfactant selection must be considered, various formulation options exist that allow for the development of highly effective consumer products that provide excellent skin mildness even after repeated application.

Polyaminopropyl Biguanide is odorless, non-foaming, clear, and colorless. It offers a gentle and effective option for both preserving and conferring value-added effects to a range of cosmetic and personal care products. It is effective against a wide range of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Polyaminopropyl Biguanide is compatible with a wide range of personal care ingredients. It is cationic, so it is compatible with cationic, amphoteric, and non-ionic surfactants. It is incompatible with strongly anionic formulas.

Effective in low concentrations, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide is used in concentrations of 0.2 - 1.5% depending on product function. This membrane-active compound can be bacteriostatic in low and bacteriocide in higher concentrations.
