Sederma

Sederma is a member of the Croda International Group and a worldwide leader in developing active ingredients for the cosmetic industry.

Founded in 1964, Sederma introduced many ingredients and technologies that have become well-known and accepted for skin care. Examples include shea butter, cosmetic liposomes, synthetic ceramides, and Matrixyl range peptides.

Sederma was the first company to use microbial fermentation techniques to produce active ingredients that replaced animal tissue extracts. Sederma has developed ingredients for many of the significant international skin-care and cosmetic manufacturers from such work.

Sederma built its reputation as one of the best suppliers in this market segment through its commitment to research and new product development. It has also developed state-of-the-art techniques for testing the performance of its active ingredients, using both clinical trials and highly advanced in vitro methods.

Raifortaise is a plant enzyme complex from Sederma based on horseradish peroxidase and caffeic acid. It protects skin by detoxifying hydrogen peroxide and the superoxide anion, mimicking the free radical scavenging activity of Superoxide Dismutase and Catalase.

Several studies in the 90s showed that on the cellular level stretch marks formation process starts with endogenous glucocorticoid (corticosteroids) secretion under influence of stress or hormonal changes during puberty or pregnancy.

Renovage™ made to extend the skin's youth span and works on the origin of youth and targets the cell actors which guarantee lifespan and youth. The age that we attribute to a face is a global assessment unconsciously based on several visual signs that are additive.

Sederma has demonstrated that Subliskin™'s oligosaccharides have the property to increase hyaluronic acid and its receptor CD44 synthesis but also elastin and laminin-5 synthesis, hence the word "glycokines" (a natural sugar sequence mimicking structurally and functionally oligosaccharide sequence found in the skin).
Sederma has completed a new test on Venuceane™ (a heat-stable biotechnological extract containing Extremozymes™ - Thermus Thermophillus ferment extract) by using for the first time an accelerated skin aging-type process to investigate efficacy on age stability.
