How to save five years in six months with effective prevention
Sederma has completed a new test on Venuceane™ (a heat-stable biotechnological extract containing Extremozymes™ - Thermus Thermophillus ferment extract) by using for the first time an accelerated skin aging-type process to investigate efficacy on age stability. Usually, the efficacy of cosmetic preventive measures against skin aging is difficult to assess when compared with curative (i.e. moisturizing, anti-wrinkle, oil control...) efficacy claims. Indeed, this is due to the fact that curative effects can be obtained and demonstrated in a relatively short period of time (a few days or weeks).
The effectiveness was tested in-vivo on two panels of volunteers, who recently arrived on the island of Mauritius, and applied a daycare cream containing Venuceane™ or a placebo cream over six months on the face and the volar forearm. Skin parameters such as TEWL, texture, stratum corneum barrier quality, skin age but also self-evaluation criteria (questionnaire) were recorded over time.
Results show clear evidence of skin aging in the placebo-treated panel. On the contrary, the panelists who applied the preventive treatment had stability or even a decrease in the signs of aging. Sederma demonstrated that a preventive treatment containing Venuceane™ compensates for accelerated aging and even allows to save 5 years in 6 months.
