Brookosome® ACEBC contains a complementary combination of three vitamins to help protect lipid membranes from free-radical attack.
Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) and Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) help to scavenge free radicals responsible for lipid peroxidation. Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C) works by helping to regenerate the Tocopherol.
All three vitamins are provided in the more stable ester form. In the skin, the esterases present will hydrolyze the esters down to the active vitamins which will then play their protective role in the lipid membranes found in the epidermis. Beta-carotene adds a polymeric form of Vitamin A and has natural nutritive and protective qualities.
Brookosome® ACEBC is suggested for use in sun care formulations as additional free radical formation is caused by sunlight, especially UVA light. One of the advantages of using a liposome-based on phospholipids. Phospholipids have been reported to help to boost the SPF of the formulation.Brookosome ® ACEBC should be used at 1 to 2% in emulsions, gels, and sunscreen products. Low emulsifier and salt content systems are suggested.
