Methyl Gluceth-20 is an ethoxylated methyl glucose ether, a pale, yellow, moderate-viscosity syrup (liquid) with a mild odor. It is an effective humectant in rinse-off and leave-on skin care products such as lotions, creams, and body cleansing formulations.

Derived from corn, Methyl Gluceth-20 is an easy-to-use multifunctional ingredient used in a wide range of products. It imparts exceptional moisturization, reduced defatting of the skin, and a light, smooth feel and after-feel.

An effective processing aid for soap manufacture, Methyl Gluceth-20 prevents cracking in bar soap applications and smooths extrusion. Combined with other humectants like glycerin, It demonstrates synergistic performance and a potentiated effect.

In creams and lotions, Methyl Glucoseth-20 is a highly effective humectant—an activity that’s crucial in helping sunscreen halt the damaging dryness of sun exposure. In any cream, it delivers a light, smooth feel and improves the moisturized after-feel your product should leave behind.

In addition, Methyl Gluceth-20 improves the sensory properties of these formulations. Depending on the application type and amount of humectant required, its use levels range from 0.1% to 5.0%. It is used in sunscreen creams, soap bars, dry skin creams, shampoos,  liquid soaps, and hydroalcoholic products.
