Anti-aging

Collagen represents the main component of the extracellular matrix of the dermal connective tissue and its concentration decreases as we age. It is known that the loss of collagen is not only due to a reduction of the synthesis but also due to its enhanced degradation. The enzymes called MMPs are mainly responsible for collagen breakdown and inhibition of new collagen formation in the skin.

Transforming growth factor (TGF-β), a member of a large family of secreted peptide growth factors is known to play a prominent role in the accumulation of ECM (extracellular matrix) components by increasing the expression of ECM genes, such as collagen, elastin, fibronectin, and proteoglycan.

DermaPep™ WrinCare is a peptide-based complex with a rejuvenating, anti-aging effect. It is a mixture of TGF beta mimic myristoyl tetra-peptide and MMP-1 inhibitor myristoyl tetra-peptide, effectively boosts the procollagen production and strongly inhibits MMPs which are collagen degrading enzymes under normal or UV irradiated conditions.

In vitro studies show that procollagen production is performed via TGF-beta signaling by myristoyl tetrapeptide-6 and MMP-1 is inhibited via AP-1 de-activating pathway by myristoyl tetrapeptide-34.

These two peptides show additional effects on human skin aging by working respectively. The clinical study also shows that each of the peptides has a brilliant effect on reducing wrinkles.
