UV absorber

For cosmetic products, the packaging is an important sales point because an attractive appearance is essential if they are to have customer appeal, decoratively printed packs, and also transparent bottles that may contain attractively colored products, can be seen on the shelves of all retail stores.

Particularly in this last case - the transparent pack - the product is susceptible to UV radiation and it is then necessary to add UV filters in order to protect it. This sector is becoming increasingly important for the use of UV absorbers.

The most important field of application, quantitywise, for UV absorbers in cosmetics is that of skin protection, particularly their use in sun-screening preparations that protect the skin from sunburn. While the use of -UV absorbers for skin protection is regulated in many countries, e.g. in the USA, EC, and in Japan, by official "positive lists", much more UV absorbers can be used to protect the product itself, provided that the concentration does not exceed 0.5 %.

PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate is a multifunctional emollient ester that provides all of the benefits of silicone, a silicone-like shine, and similar feel characteristics, plus additional benefits unavailable with silicones. It is an off-white liquid with a low odor.

Solaveil™ CT-100 is a sunscreen complex, a highly stable dispersion (no sedimentation) of hydrophobically modified titanium dioxide particles in C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, with a high SPF efficacy, photostablility, and true transparency on the skin. It is an off-white viscous liquid/gel.

Solaveil™ CT-10W is a sunscreen complex, a highly stable aqueous dispersion of hydrophobically modified titanium dioxide particles with no sedimentation, high SPF efficacy, true transparency on skin, photostablity, and an excellent sensory profile.

Solaveil™ CT-200 is a highly stable dispersion (no sedimentation) of hydrophobically modified titanium dioxide particles in a 50:50 blend of isohexadecane and triethylhexanoin. It has high SPF efficacy, true transparency on the skin, photostablity, and a light, non-greasy skin feel.

Titanium dioxide is sometimes described as a “natural sunscreen” because it is derived from a naturally-occurring mineral.
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that defends skin from oxidative stress and premature aging. These fat-soluble vitamins naturally occurring in many foods (e.g., walnut), and essential oils leave important photoprotective and anti-photoaging effects on the skin cell, preserving lipid barrier, original beauty, and health.

Vitis Vinifera Seed Extract is a brownish to orange micro-granulated powder obtained from grape seeds, a byproduct of wine production.

Zinc Oxide acts as a photocatalyst absorbing and scattering UVA & UVB and converts UVR to heat and light that has a rejuvenating effect on skin connective tissue.
