Emollient

Emollients are among the most versatile and essential ingredients used in personal care products today. They allow formulators to control the final product's all-important feel.

Emollients are designed to help formulators deliver particular sensory experiences into personal care formulations. Properties important in this class of ingredients are firmness, spreadability, greasiness, absorbency, slipperiness, gloss, and others.

But beyond that, emollients can provide a range of functionalities – from moisturization, solubilization, and lubrication to improving skin's elasticity and substantivity and adding gloss.

Careful selection of an emollient can invigorate the formula, making it perfect for the application. So what's the problem? There are literally thousands of choices of emollients available for evaluation—and a product needs to be finished right away.

PPG-15 Stearyl Ether is a polyoxypropylene (15 moles) ether with stearyl alcohol, an exceptional emollient ingredient with excellent solvent and emulsifying (HLB value of 7) properties.

PPG-2 Hydroxyethyl Cocamide is a pale yellow liquid. It is a highly effective, multifunctional, nonionic surfactant that offers a wide range of benefits to rinse off personal care products.

PPG-2 Myristyl Ether Propionate is a non-oily polymer and a nearly dry feel emollient, making this ester a suitable selection for mineral oil replacement. It improves spreading and reduces the greasy feel of mineral oils, etc.

PPG-26 Oleate is a propoxylated (26 mole) vegetable-based oleic acid. It is a clear, oily liquid, soluble in oils and insoluble in water.

PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate is a multifunctional emollient ester that provides all of the benefits of silicone, a silicone-like shine, and similar feel characteristics, plus additional benefits unavailable with silicones. It is an off-white liquid with a low odor.

PPG-3 Myristyl Ether Neoheptanoate is a polymeric ester with superior pigment-wetting properties. Its unique structure contains a polymer linked to a fatty acid through an ether linkage.

PPG-30 Cetyl Ether is a 30-mole propoxylate of stearyl alcohol, a light yellow liquid.

Propanediol Dicaprylate is a diester of propanediol and caprylic acid derived from vegetable raw materials. It is used in organic cosmetics products as a natural replacement for silicones.
