Emollient

Emollients are among the most versatile and essential ingredients used in personal care products today. They allow formulators to control the final product's all-important feel.

Emollients are designed to help formulators deliver particular sensory experiences into personal care formulations. Properties important in this class of ingredients are firmness, spreadability, greasiness, absorbency, slipperiness, gloss, and others.

But beyond that, emollients can provide a range of functionalities – from moisturization, solubilization, and lubrication to improving skin's elasticity and substantivity and adding gloss.

Careful selection of an emollient can invigorate the formula, making it perfect for the application. So what's the problem? There are literally thousands of choices of emollients available for evaluation—and a product needs to be finished right away.
Brazil nut (Bertholletia Excelsa) oil is purified and refined oil, an emollient comparable to sesame oil. With a fatty acid distribution similar to sesame oil, it is expected to have much the same properties as this traditional cosmetic oil.

Butyl Oleate is an ester of n-butanol and oleic acid. It is a clear, colorless liquid without an odor. It is miscible in alcohols, ethers, vegetable and mineral oils, and insoluble in water.

In personal care products, Butyl Oleate is used as a bodying agent, emollient, and emulsifier.

Butyl Stearate is an ester of n-butanol and stearic acid. It is a clear, colorless liquid without an odor. It is a food-grade ingredient and is used as a synthetic flavoring agent (21 CFR 172.515, 21 CFR 173.340).

Butylene Glycol (1,3-butanediol) is organic alcohol (diol - contains two hydroxy groups) derived from natural renewable raw materials, a multifunctional ingredient included in formulas as a humectant, carrier, antiseptic, solvent, humectant, preservative booster, and emollient.

Butylene Glycol Cocoate is an emollient, mono- and di-esters mix with extraordinary pigment-wetting properties. It is used in texturing makeup bases, foundations, concealers, and cover sticks for younger, more even skin tones.

Butyrospermum Parkii Oil is a liquid shea oil that is completely clear at 20°C. Originating from the African savannah, it is optimally processed to deliver beautiful clarity while maintaining a high level (6-8%) of functional unsaponifiables.

C10-18 Triglycerides are fats, glycerin esters with fatty acids with 10-18 carbon atoms long chains, acting as a sustainable texturizing agent in skincare formulations. Derived from natural and certified palm kernel oil, this waxy substance has a melting point close to the skin temperature.

C10-40 Isoalkyl Acid Triglyceride is a blend of medium- and long-chain liquid esters developed to enhance the shine of lipsticks and glosses. It is known under the trade name DUB Diamond.

C12-13 Alkyl Lactate is a mix of esters of alkyl alcohols with 12 and 13 carbon atom chains and lactic acid (lauryl lactate and Tridecyl lactate), used in skin care applications to reduce tackiness and greasiness of other ingredients, such as petrolatum.
C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate is an emollient ester produced from Benzoic Acid and fatty alcohols with 12-15 carbon atoms

C30-45 Alkyl Dimethicone is a linear polysiloxane with an attached C30-45 alkyl group. It has a high melting point.

C30-45 Alkyl Dimethicone is excellently compatible with both silicone and organic materials, and it offers lubricity and a silky feel.

Camellia oil is also an antioxidant that helps natural skin care products protect the skin from UV damage and even repairs some of the damage caused by free radicals - ideal for smokers, drinkers, and anyone exposed to intense sun and pollution.

Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil is a naturally rich hemp oil containing polyunsaturated fatty acids (90%) and essential fatty acids (75%). It offers an excellent balance of essential fatty acids.

Its constituent fatty acids are primarily oleic and linoleic. Canola oil is a plant-derived lipid that is a natural moisturizing factor. It also has barrier-repair and anti-inflammatory properties.

Caprylic/Capric Glycerides is a mix of medium-chain mono/diglycerides primarily intended for use in pharmaceutical and personal care formulations as excipients and absorption enhancers.

These triglycerides are designed explicitly for formulators interested in highly refined lightweight emollients with excellent after-feel solvents, fixatives, solubilizers, extenders, and carriers.

Caprylic/Capric/Lauric Triglyceride is a blend of interesterified triglycerides medium-chain fatty acid from coconut oil that is refined and deodorized for use in personal care products.

Caprylyl Glycol (1,2-Octanediol) is alcohol (diol contains two hydroxy groups on 1 and 2 positions) colorless liquid derived from raw natural materials, widely used in skin care applications for its humectant, antiseptic, anti-parasitic, antioxidant, and emollient properties.

Caprylyl Methicone is a clear liquid, a C8-alkyl modified trimer silicone fluid with low molecular weight and increased compatibility with vegetable oils and waxes for color make-up and skin care formulas.

Carnitine Isomerized Linoleate is a conjugate of L-Carnitine with linoleic acid, a lipolytic, energizing, and anti-cellulite ingredient. This slimming agent delivers a notable reduction of body fat and the development of thin mass.

Castor oil goes deep into the skin and creates a healthy barrier. It supports hair growth and protects your scalp naturally, strengthens your hair and gives it a silky sheen.

Castor Oil Bis-Hydroxypropyl Dimethicone Esters is a straw Colored liquid, an ester of castor oil with silicone polymer obtained by esterification of castor oil with silicone carbinol in a ratio of 3:1 by weight.

Cera Alba is a beeswax obtained from the product excreted by certain glands of the honeybee from which the honeycomb is made. It is freed of solid impurities by melting and centrifugation (cera flava). Finally, cera flava is bleached completely white Cera alba.

Ceratonia Siliqua (Locust Bean) Gum is a highly purified fraction of branched galactomannan saccharide polymers. Its aqueous solution is a clear to slightly opalescent, colorless, viscous liquid known under the trade name Phytaluronate®.

This fatty alcohol produced from plant oils and natural waxes is used as an emulsifier, emollient, thickener, and carrying agent. It is not drying alcohol.

Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate (Cetylstearyl 2-ethylhexanoate) is a mix of cetyl and stearyl alcohols esters with 2-ethylhexanoic acid, a colorless oil with a faint inherent odor. Its former designation was Cetearyl Octanoate.
